Sue’s workshop began with a show of absolutely remarkable skeins. Yarn spun from the same wools but in varying ways to produce astonishingly different results. Who knew? The process started with combing, using terrifyingly pronged combs to produce beautiful fluff from long stapled fleece in readiness for spinning. We were taught a new method aimed specifically to get more loft into our yarn. Obviously practise is required! However we were generally pleased with our results on the day. I think we could have done with several more hours or even days with Sue! We may have to hunt her down at Dumfries Guild, if she hasn’t gone fishing!
